Next on the list is French oil major Total SA (TOT). Total raised some eyebrows last month as discussions progressed to develop Russia massive shale fields in partnership with Lukoil (LUKOY). It appears that, despite the ongoing threat of sanctions from the United States, business is going on as usual in the real world.

ConocoPhillips (COP) explores for, produces, transports, and markets crude oil, bitumen, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, and natural gas liquids on a worldwide basis. I am attracted to the above average yield on ConocoPhillips, in comparison to Exxon and Chevron. Unfortunately Chevron is already one of my highest weighted positions, which is why ConocoPhillips was the second US oil choice. I am building my position in the stock with this purchase. The company is extremely well run, has a history of disposing out of non-core assets such as Lukoil stock (LUKOY) and Kashagan Project, and sending cash to shareholders in the process. The company has increased dividends for 13 years in a row, and has managed to boost them by 15.10%/year over the past decade. Currently, the stock trades at 10.70 times earnings and yields 4.20%. Advisors' Opinion:

Neither Acorn Energy Inc. (NASDAQ:ACFN) nor Cardica, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRDC) may look all that compelling with just a passing glance. The longer one examines CRDC and ACFN, however - and really gets a grasp of their underlying stories - the more compelling each one becomes. In fact, newcomers may want to go ahead and put both budding stocks on their watchlists, if not in their portfolios.

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

A technology stock that's starting to move within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Acorn Energy (ACFN), which provides digital solutions for energy infrastructure asset management. This stock has been hit hard by the sellers in 2013, with shares off sharply by 48%.

If you take a look at the chart for Acorn Energy, you'll notice that this stock has started to spike higher here back above its 50-day moving average of $3.66 a share. This stock has also found significant buying interest over the last two months, each time it has pulled back to around $3.50 to $3.20 a share. Shares of ACFN are now quickly moving within range of triggering a big breakout trade above some key near-term overhead resistance levels.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in ACFN if it manages to break out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels at $4.24 to $4.64 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 344,835 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then ACFN will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $5.50 to $6 a share. Any high-volume move above $6 will then put its next major overhead resistance levels at its 200-day moving average of $6.35 to $6.68 a share into range for shares of ACFN.

Traders can look to buy ACFN off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $3.66 a share, or right around some major support at $3.21 a share. One could also buy ACFN off strength once it starts to clear those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts’ (KKD) stock has slumped Friday after the chain missed Wall Street’s profit forecasts.ButJanney Capital Marketsis urging clients to take another bite.

Direct operating expenses were a factor in the final 2Q earnings of 14 cents per share — those costs rose 9.5%. Investors were also met with a disappointing 13% drop in foreign sales. This morning’s media coverage, meanwhile, has focused on the apparent costliness of expanding internationally. “That’s important for a company where its strategy has been to diversify abroad especially to Asia,” writesMiller Tabak & Co. strategistAndrew Wilkinson.

The Wall Street Journal’s Tom Di Fonzo

None of that is the focus Friday for Janney’s Mark Kalinowski and Amy Babington, who were impressed with the 10% same-store-sales growth in domestic company-owned stores. As they wrote in a client note:

Domestic same-store sales trendsremain highly encouraging, with fiscal Q2 comps up by +10.0% for company-ownedstores (just below our igh on the sell-sideestimate of +10.5%), and by +11.5% forfranchised outlets (above our igh on the sell-sideprojection of +10.5%). Inaddition, Krispy Kreme reveals that for the first three weeks of fiscal Q3 (essentiallyAugust/September/October), same-store sales for U.S. company-owned stores were+5%, +12%, and flat, respectively suggesting a nearly +6% type trend to start fiscalQ3.

KKD is down more than 14% to $19.95 in Friday afternoon trading. Dunkin’ Brands Group (DNKN), by comparison, has fallen 0.1% to $43.04.

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

Finally, Krispy Kreme (NYSE: KKD  ) delivered some sweet results for shareholders. Its stock has climbed 20% after it beat earnings expectations and boosted its full-year profit guidance by more than 10%. The donut-making comeback story has been impressive, and the increasing popularity of Krispy Kreme's coffee and other beverages will be vital to the company's future success. Given the stock's valuation, investors clearly believe in the company's growth story going forward.

Top Income Companies For 2014: Qiwi PLC (QIWI)

QIWI plc., incorporated on February 26, 2007, is a provider of payment services in Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Company has an integrated network that enables payment services across physical, online and mobile channels. In December 2013, the Company announced that it has completed the acquisition of Blestgroup Enterprises Limited.

The Company has deployed over 11 million virtual wallets, over 169,000 kiosks and terminals, and enabled over 40,000 merchants to accept cash and electronic payments monthly from over 65 million consumers using the Company 's network at least once a month. The Company consumers can use cash, stored value and other electronic payment methods to order and pay for goods and services across physical or online environments interchangeably.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Steve Symington]

What:Shares of QIWI PLC (NASDAQ: QIWI  ) fell more than 16% Monday amid broader market unrest as Russia invaded Ukraine.

So what:The Moscow Exchange's Micex index fell nearly 11% on the day, so its unsurprising U.S.-listed Russian stocks like QIWI suffered the fallout. Shares of the Russia-based payment services provider are also still up more than 12% after a rapid rise over the past month, which at least partially explains the severity of today's drop.

  • [By MONEYMORNING.COM]

With that in mind, the four main Russian tech leaders investors should know about are:

VimpelCom Ltd. (ADR) (Nasdaq: VIP), a broad telecom play. The company provides both fixed and wireless web access, as well as mobile communications and services. The company has a number of subsidiaries that, taken together, have something like 215 million subscribers. Mobile Telesystems OJSC (ADR) (NYSE: MBT), a straight-up mobile play that operates in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Armenia. Plus, it has a strategic relationship with one of Europe's major players, Vodafone Group Plc (ADR) (Nasdaq: VOD). Qiwi PLC (Nasdaq: QIWI), a leader in electronic payments through kiosks, the web, and mobile platforms. It's Russia's version of PayPal - so we better not tell Carl Icahn... he might start a campaign to break up that company, too. And Yandex NV (Nasdaq: YNDX), which is the "Google of Russia." Yandex operates the world's fourth-ranked search engine and enjoys a 60% market share in its home country. Google, with about a quarter of the market, is a very distant second there.

That's a great rundown on Russia's tech leaders. Are there any worth buying at this level? And why?

  • [By MONEYMORNING.COM]

On the other hand, I'll bet most people had never heard of two very different examples: Qiwi PLC (Nasdaq: QIWI) or, until our recent Money Morning coverage, GW Pharmaceuticals PLC-ADR (Nasdaq: GWPH), and that's too bad... or maybe not.

  • [By Monica Gerson]

Qiwi plc (NASDAQ: QIWI) is expected to report its Q4 earnings at $0.28 per share on revenue of $50.00 million.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (NYSE: KKD) is estimated to post its Q4 earnings at $0.13 per share on revenue of $119.59 million.
